Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President-elect Donald Trump and conveyed his best wishes.
Earlier today, PM Modi had congratulated Mr Trump on his election as the 45th President of the US in a twitter message. He said India looks forward to working with him closely to take the bilateral ties to "a new height".
The Prime Minister also appreciated the friendship that Mr Trump had "articulated towards India" during his campaign.
Mr Trump, 70, was today elected the new US President, defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton.
