Jammu:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jammu today on a day-long visit.
A special plane carrying the prime minister landed at the technical area of Jammu airport around 9 am.
State Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and other senior officials of central and state governments received Prime Minister Modi at the airport.
From the technical area of Jammu airport, Prime Minister Modi flew in army's MI-17 helicopter to Katra town.
The Prime Minister will address the convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, formally inaugurate a 250-bedded super specialty state-of-the-art hospital and address a public rally.
This is PM Modi's third visit to Katra shrine since he took office in May 2014.
Dozens of specially trained commandos of the special protection group (SPG) are being deployed around the town.
Management of Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said the pilgrimage will continue uninterrupted during PM Modi's visit to Katra.
However, helicopter services carrying pilgrims from Katra town to the Trikuta Hills where the cave shrine is located will remain suspended as a security measure.
