Bhiwani, Haryana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' programme, a key scheme that aims to address the dipping child sex ratio and empower girl child in the country, in Haryana in January next year.
Chief Minister Manhor Lal Khattar, while presiding over a meeting of the district officers in Bhiwani, said the "declining sex ratio in Haryana and the country is a cause of concern and the programme would seek to correct the imbalance".
He said the Prime Minister will launch the programme in Panipat district in the state on January 22 next.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister made it clear to the officers that corruption would not be tolerated at any cost.
Later, while addressing party workers, Mr Khattar said an 11-member Vigilance Committee will be formed in each assembly area, which will keep an eye on the problems faced by the people and forward these to the government for solution.
To rid the public of daily traffic jams, he also announced to construct a bye pass in Bhiwani.
On proposed setting up of a medical college in Bhiwani, he said government was working on it.
