A day after his blunt message to the Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday shared details of just what transpired behind closed doors on Tuesday.

Dr Singh told journalists that he told President Zardari to take on anti-India terrorists with the same vigour that his government is battling the Taliban.

"We wish Pakistan well in dealing with Taliban but I would like Pakistan to show the same determination in dealing with elements who operate from Pakistani soil and commit acts of terrorism against India," said Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister putting Pakistan to the test a day after he told President Asif Zardari that India will resume dialogue with Pakistan but only talk about terror for the time being.

"Zardari told me, please bear with me," the PM said.

The two leaders met for 40 minutes on Tuesday afternoon on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Ekaterinburg in Russia.

It was their first meeting since the Mumbai attacks and months of rising tensions between India and Pakistan.

The ice between the India and Pakistan may have been broken but the message to Pakistan is clear - act and act fast, in time for the foreign secretary meetings in the next few weeks so that India can determine whether it's feasible to carry forward the dialogue that has begun in Russia.
