New Delhi: Amidst angry opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the latest joint statement between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke in Parliament on Friday.
The Prime Minister said that he conveyed to the Pakistani leadership India's desire to see sustained action against terrorism.
"We discussed the present condition of India-Pakistan relations. We discussed terrorism including Mumbai attacks," said the Prime Minister.
He said that he was assured by the Pakistan Prime Minister on bringing 26/11 perpetrators to justice.
"PM Gilani assured me Pakistan will do everything to bring perpetrators of 26/11 to justice," he said.
"India, Pakistan will share real-time, actionable information on future terror threats," he added.
The Prime Minister said that engagement was the only way forward. But right after that statement Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Lal Krishna Advani, accused the Prime Minister of conceding too much to Pakistan and the BJP staged a walkout.
