New Delhi:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet the Andhra Pradesh chief minister, K Rosaiah, and Maharashtra chief minister, Ashok Chavan, to find a way out of the dispute over Maharashtra's construction of Babhli dam over Godavari river in Nanded district.
Andhra Pradesh has accused Maharashtra of building illegal projects over the Godavari that will affect water flow into the state. An all-party delegation from Andhra Pradesh met the PM on July 26 to convey the state's resentment at how Babhli dam would rob the Telangana region of its share of Godavari water.
Last month, the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had protested in Nanded district against the project.
A Telugu Desam team had gone to Nanded demanding that it be allowed to visit Babhli dam, but its leaders including Chandrababu Naidu were arrested and later sent back to Hyderabad.
