PM to Saudi Arabia: Persuade Pakistan

PM to Saudi Arabia: Persuade Pakistan
New Delhi: After Shashi Tharoor caused a stir by talking about Saudi Arabia as an interlocutor in the context of Pakistan, the Prime Minister said pretty much the same thing on Monday.

On his way back from Riyadh, Dr Manmohan Singh said he has asked Saudi Arabia to use its good offices to persuade Pakistan to desist from the path of terror.

"I know Saudi Arabia has close relations with Pakistan. I did discuss the Indo-Pak relations with His Majesty on a one-to-one basis. I explained to him the role that terrorism, aided, abetted and inspired by Pakistan is playing in our country. And I did not ask for him to do anything other than to use his good offices to persuade Pakistan to desist from this path," the PM said.
