New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh underwent a medical check-up on Sunday, at the premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.

The Prime Minister, 77, went through a "routine medical check-up", PMO sources said.

"This is a routine evaluation that was done in two parts. He underwent a Stress-Thallium test. It was done in two parts -- one was done at 8 am and the other was done at 12.30 pm," said Dr K S Reddy, personal physician to the Prime Minister.

During the tests, a patient is made to do some exercises and certain assessments are made by doctors to check if the heart is able to take stress or not.

Reddy said, "This is a test conducted to check the functioning of the heart. Dr Singh has undergone a heart surgery last year and this is an evaluation process to ascertain working of his heart."

A team of doctors at AIIMS were involved in the tests. "All tests are normal and everything is alright with the Prime Minister," Reddy said.

Singh had undergone a 'beating heart' surgery on January 24 last year to clear coronary blockages.
