Mumbai: Police today registered a First Information Report or FIR against unidentified persons for 'blackening the face' of Sudheendra Kulkarni, the chief organiser of former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri's book launch in Mumbai.

"An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of IPC by the Antop Hill police in this connection," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said.

A complaint was registered by Mr Kulkarni himself this afternoon, police said.

The case has been registered under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 147 (rioting), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections, the police added.

Police said around six to seven unidentified persons also shouted slogans against ORF, a foreign policy think-tank, which has organised a book-launch event involving Mr Kasuri. "We are searching the accused who are purportedly connected with Shiv Sena", they said.

Sudheendra Kulkarni's car was stopped allegedly by Shiv Sena protesters who were demanding the cancellation of events having a Pakistani connection.
