Muktsar: Police in Punjab lathicharged protesting teachers and arrested three of them when they tried to gherao Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in Muktsar district.
Six teachers, including two woman, were injured in the lathicharge.
The teachers wanted to meet Mr Badal to demand permanent jobs.
Police stopped the teachers following which a scuffle broke out and police resorted to lathicharge.
The Chief Minister was visiting the area in a damage control effort after an Akali Dal Sarpanch slapped a woman teacher few days back. He was arrested and later freed on bail.
