Delhi/Gurgaon: 10 days after former air-hostess Geetika Sharma killed herself, the Delhi Police is yet to trace former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda who is accused of abetting her suicide.
Investigators have conducted searches and raids at around 50 places and have questioned over 25 people but are still unable to trace Mr Kanda, the owner of erstwhile MDLR airline where 23-year-old Geetika was an employee till May this year.
Haryana's Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda defended his government and said they were not protecting the former minister. When questioned about Mr Kanda's disappearance, he said law would take its course. "We are not shielding anybody. If anybody is guilty he will brought to book. If Delhi police need our help, we will offer it," he said.
Mr Kanda was served a notice to join investigations last week but the former minister has since been missing. The police has declared him an "absconder" while his employee Aruna Chaddha has been arrested.
Mr Kanda and Ms Chaddha were named in Geetika's suicide note. The former air hostess committed suicide on August 5, alleging that they were harassing her. Both Mr Kanda and Ms Chaddha have denied the allegations.
