Policeman arrested for leaking information to Maoists

Munger, Bihar: The private assistant to Superintendent of Police of Munger district was on Monday arrested for leaking his superior's movements to Maoists.

It was established from the electronic tracking device at the state police headquarters in Patna that the private assistant Md Salim Ahasan in the rank of Sub-Inspector was supplying information about the actions and movements of the SP to Maoists for long, Superintendent of Police (Munger) M Sunil Naik told a press conference here.

"Ahasan also gave information about the then superintendent of police KC Surendra Babu who was killed in a landmine blast by Maoists 2005," Naik said.

Information about recent offensives in forests and hilly areas in Munger district were also passed on to the Maoists by Md Salim, he said.
