A policeman was shot at by two attackers on bike when he tried to stop them during routine patrolling in Etah's Aliganj area, police said today.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when the bike thieves opened fire on sub-inspector Manoj Kumar and injured him, they said, adding one of the accused was apprehended on the spot.
During police interrogation, Sheeloo, who is from Hathras district, said that they had stolen the bike used in the crime.
The bike has been seized and efforts are on to apprehend his accomplice Ashok of Firozabad district, who is absconding, they said.
The Sub-Inspector has lodged an FIR against the accused.
