'Politics is Not Misusing Power But Working for the Masses,' Says West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said that "Politics doesn't mean misusing power but working for the masses". At a meeting with veteran communist leader Ashok Ghosh in Kolkata, Ms Banerjee said, "Politics means what you say on day one you should follow that on day 100 also".

Wishing a healthy life to the 94-year-old veteran leader, Ms Banerjee said, "Ashokda belongs to the genre of political leaders who have dedicated their lives for the masses".

She further said, "Leaders like him are examples. Rather than leading luxurious lives they have taken pains and suffered hardships to work for the masses."

The Trinamool Congress chief Mr Ghosh with sweets and flowers and also apologised for not being able to visit him earlier.

Ms Banerjee also said that she shares the lifestyle of various communist leaders who had believed in simple living and working for the masses.

Returning the gesture, Mr Ghosh said, "We all want to work by following the ideology of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Mamata Banerjee too follows that ideology. She is just like my younger sister".
