Jammu: Demanding regularisation of their jobs, scores of daily wage workers of Power Development Department (PDD) today held protest demonstration in Jammu and clashed with police as they tried to take out the march to civil secretariat.
The protesters, who had assembled at PDD city office at the Parade Ground, marched towards the secretariat to hold dharna there, police said.
When police prevented them from moving towards secretariat they allegedly clashed with them forcing police to resort to mild cane charge.
The PDD association leaders claimed that two persons were injured.
However, the police said that protesters were dispersed peacefully and no one was injured.
The PDD daily wagers are on dharna for past one month, demanding regularisation of their services.
They have also sought intervention of the Chief Minister.
