Pranab makes light of Advani's 'weak PM' barb

Pranab makes light of Advani's 'weak PM' barb
Kolkata:

Rubbishing BJP leader L K Advani's remark describing Manmohan Singh as a "weak" Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said that a person need not be a wrestler to become a PM.

"One need not be a wrestler or flex muscle to hold the post of Prime Minister. It also does not require for a person to use strong words to become a PM," Mukherjee told a meet-the-press programme at the Press Club in Kolkata.

He said that after the attack on Parliament, the previous NDA government had talked about hot pursuit and amassed troops on the Indo-Pak border but nothing came of it.

"But after the Mumbai terrorist strike, we could mobilise global opinion against Pakistan. Pakistan Foreign Minister also admitted that those responsible for Mumbai attack were from Pakistan," he said.

Asked to comment on BJP's statement that it would not re-negotiate the civil-nuclear deal if it came to power, Mukherjee replied, "It is fine. Good sense has prevailed on them."
