New Delhi:
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee yet again gently deflected questions on the top political post that has eluded him so far.
"My God, why should I be (Prime Minister)! I am quite happy with what I am", he said in reply to a question as to when he would become the Prime Minister.
Mukherjee, who is the senior-most minister in the Mahmohan Singh government, made these comments at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.
Mukherjee, the Congress party's trouble-shooter, heads several empowered group of ministers and remains in forefront in resolving the vexed issues, economic as well as political.
On earlier occasions, Mukherjee had expressed his desire to retire from active politics after the end of the current term of the Lok Sabha in 2014.
"My goodness! What would be my age? I am already 75. There is a limit beyond which you cannot go...How long do you expect me to stay? Rather, I have overstayed my wicket," Mukherjee said in a recent interview when asked whether he would like to join Rahul Gandhi cabinet in future.
Having entered the politics about four decades ago, Mukherjee had been a minister in almost all the Congress-led governments since 1973.
