Guwahati: President Pranab Mukherjee has expressed grief over the loss of lives and damage to properties caused by the recent waves of flood in Assam.
In a letter to Assam Governor P B Acharya, he said, "My thoughts are with all those affected by the flood."
President Mukherjee expressed confidence that both central and state governments and other concerned agencies would be doing their best to provide all possible help to the affected families by extending rescue and relief operations.
Condoling the bereaved families, he said "I offer my prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured persons and hope that they resume their normal lives with a new ray of hope".
The President also asked the state government to keep himinformed of the progress in addressing the problem of flood, a Rajbhavan release said in Guwahati on Monday.
