New Delhi:
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday greeted the nation on the occasion of Dussehra, saying the festival reinforces the eternal message of triumph of good over evil.
"On the joyous occasion of Dussehra, I have great pleasure in extending warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens," said the President in a message.
The festival is on Wednesday.
"May this festival stimulate in all of us the determination to emulate the righteousness of the 'Maryada Purush' (Rama), the loyalty of his brothers - Bharata and Lakshmana, the virtues of Sita (Rama's wife) and the valour as well as humility of Hanuman," he added.
The Vice President in his message said: "The celebration of this festival reinforces the eternal message of triumph of good over evil and unites the people in a spirit of brotherhood and amity."
Greeting the nation on the festival, the Prime Minister said: "Vijaya Dashami is celebrated all over the country in various forms to commemorate the victories of Lord Ram and Goddess Durga signifying the triumph of good over evil. The celebrations are an inspiration for us to follow the path of righteousness."
