Prestigious UK institutions condemn Varun Gandhi

London:

The London School of Economics and School of Oriental and African Studies have dispelled the impression that Varun Gandhi studied at these respected colleges.

First it was LSE that made it clear that Varun Gandhi cannot call himself an LSE graduate and now SOAS has said he applied for an MSc but later withdrew.

To show their anger, students at SOAS authored and supported a petition against Varun Gandhi.

They do not want their institution to be associated with him in any way.

They were present at the last general body meeting of SOAS, which adopted and passed a unanimous resolution condemning Varun Gandhi's communal politics.

"I was bowled over by the response when I proposed this resolution in the general body meeting and it was passed unanimously," said Ajay, a student at SOAS.

"I have no illusions this will stop him but at least we needed to use the tools at our disposal," said Rukmini, another SOAS student.

More than 200 people - students, faculty, alumni - have already signed this petition.
