Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hailed the "seamless" operation by various government departments to evacuate Indians as also several non-Indians from strife-torn Yemen.
In a series of tweets, he said the evacuation efforts reflect the government's willingness to serve its people and readiness to help others in distress, which is India's ethos.

He had special praise for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (retd) V K Singh for their efforts.

"I am also glad that India has rescued several non-Indian citizens from Yemen," he said, adding "Our evacuation efforts in Yemen reflect willingness to serve our people & readiness to help others in distress, which is India's ethos."
Till yesterday, India had evacuated nearly 2,300 of its nationals from Yemen.
