New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday joined President Emmanuel Macron for the Bastille Day parade as part of the French National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour. PM Modi, who is in France for a two-day official visit, also attended an India-France CEOs Forum meeting along with Macron.
The French National Day, or Bastille Day, occupies a special place in the French consciousness as it commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison during the French Revolution in 1789. The Bastille Day parade is the highlight of the celebrations.
A 269-member Indian tri-services contingent participated in the parade. Three Rafale fighter jets of the Indian Air Force (IAF) also joined the flypast on the occasion along with French jets.

"You could see his passion and commitment to support women more and more in business and in all avenues to grow and develop," Ms Nair said. "It was a proud moment for me to talk to him. He was encouraging about my achievements but importantly, he was keen that I continue to support other women and girls and be a role model for many of them coming out of India."
