PM Modi pledged to protect the environment and build quality infrastructure in his speech in Kedarnath
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand where he was welcomed by Uttarakhand Governor KK Paul and Chief Minister Trivendra S Rawat. PM Modi spoke at length about building quality infrastructure in Kedarnath, while preserving traditional ethos. He also spoke about the importance of the environment and the need to protect it. PM Modi also spoke about making Kedarnath an ideal pilgrimage spot and in turning Uttarakhand into an organic state.

- I am here today to seek the blessings of Bhole Baba and it is here that I will devote myself to realise the dream of a developed India by 2022, when we mark 75 years of freedom.
- Jan Seva is Prabhu Seva (Taking care of the people is equal to taking care of god).
- In 2013, I was not the Prime Minister, but the Chief Minister of Gujarat. During that time, the Gujarat floods had made me very sad. I tried to help in rebuilding, but the Centre became nervous.
- We want to show by the example of Kedarnath, how an ideal 'Tirth Kshetra' should be and how the wellbeing of both, priests and pilgrims should be given importance
- We are striving to build quality infrastructure in Kedarnath.
- Kedarnath will be modern, but all the old traditions and ethos will be preserved.
- We will ensure that the environment will not get damaged. We need to ensure the protection of the natural environment.
- There is so much that the Himalayas offer to the people.
- The Himalayas offer spiritual pursuits as well as adventure and water sports for tourists and nature lovers.
- We must strive to ensure that Uttarakhand becomes an Organic State.
