New Delhi:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh begins his two-day visit to Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday. He's expected to make announcements on restarting the peace process with the separatists during the much-awaited visit.
The Prime Minister will begin the visit by inaugurating the crucial Qazigund rail link that connects south and north Kashmir.
Speaking on the issue of starting a dialogue with Kashmiri separatists, the PM had earlier said he had a sincere desire to engage all sections of political opinion in Jammu & Kashmir and that he would like political groups outside mainstream to engage in constructive dialogue.
The leaders from all political parties will meet the PM. In fact they are focused on what the Prime Minister will say when he speaks in South Kashmir.
The ruling National Conference is expecting an 'out-of-the-box statement' on the Kashmir dispute.
The opposition PDP though is looking forward to an inclusive dialogue offer from the Prime Minister.
The Separatist leaders are looking towards consolidating the peace process initiated by Chidambaram's visit.
The Prime minister is visiting Kashmir for the first time after Congress' victory in the 2009 elections.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Railway Minister Mamata Banerji will accompany him. Cabinet ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Farooq Abdullah will also be with him.
