New Delhi:
Rahul Gandhi's recent trip to Allahabad saw youth workers from the Samajwadi Party who tried to stop his car, waving black flags. Guards from Gandhi's SPG (Special Protection Group) were forced to push back some of the protesters.
Now, the Prime Minister's office has written to the Mayawati government, asking for details of the alleged security breach. The PMO has also asked the UP police to clarify if there were any coordination issues between Gandhi's SPG and the UP police which might have led to the problem.
The incident took place on Monday evening when Gandhi was en route to Anand Bhavan, the ancestral home of the Nehru-Gandhis, after an interaction with students.
In the past, the UP police has complained that it is not kept in the loop about Gandhi's plans when he visits his constituency of Amethi and other parts of the state.
