Principal may be forced to quit over Akriti's death: Report
New Delhi:

A day after the anger over Akriti Bhatia's death exploded inside Delhi's posh modern school, sources have told NDTV that the principal Goldie Malhotra may be forced to resign. Sources say the school board met earlier on Friday and a final decision is likely soon.

The school trustee earlier said no one has been given a clean chit and an internal investigation is on to find out whether there was any lapse on part of the school.

Earlier, the school management decided to close the school for two days.

Akriti died on her way to the hospital after a severe asthma attack in the school.

On Friday morning, students came to the school only to find it shut. The management said the school was closed at the request of parents and local authorities.

There are now reports that the school principal may be asked to step down. The school trustee said no one has been given a clean chit, and an internal investigation is on to find out whether there was any lapse.

Meanwhile, the grief over Akriti's death turned into anger at one of Delhi's most prominent schools.

Friends of Akriti Bhatia turned emotional and demanded action against their school principal and teachers. Parents of 18-year-old also demanded the principal's resignation.

Reacting to the incident, Women and Child Welfare Minister Renuka Choudhary has said that parents should share medical history of their children with the schools, so that medical emergencies at schools can be properly attended to.

Delhi's Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the schools should have adequate medical facilities.
