Chennai:
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr Prithivraj Chavan along with many of his cabinet colleagues visited Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in the private Chennai hospital today, where the later was admitted for a liver-related ailment. Doctors have described his condition as being stable.
Nagpur MP and former union minister Vilas Muttemwar, who also paid Mr Deshmukh, said his condition is improving. "We are happy. Vilasrao is better compared to how he was at Breach Candy, Mumbai," he said.
Meanwhile, doctors have described Mr Deshmukh's condition as being stable and added that a liver transplant option will we considered after his condition improves. "Mr Deshmukh continues to be on life support and is under observation since Tuesday," hospital authorities said.
Mr Deshmukh is under the care of a team led by world renowned liver transplant surgeon Dr Mohamed Rela.
According to hospital authorities, the Deshmukh family is not comfortable sharing details of his illness with the media and hence the hospital has not been issuing any medical bulletin. "Only the family can brief the media or communicate via social media on the Minister's ailment and health condition," they added.
Mr Deshmukh's son and daughter-in-law, actors Riteish and Genelia, are at the hospital along with other family members.
Union Minister of State for Coal Mr Patil and Mr Harshavarashan, Minister of Cooperation in Maharashtra are among many who visited the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Tuesday.
