A private helicopter that was being used for rescue operations in Uttarakhand crashed this evening.
The pilot was flying alone and was rescued, and is recovering in hospital.
His helicopter had burst into flames, said Air Vice Marshal SK Nair.
He explained that an Air Force pilot who was trying to air-lift some people near-by received a message about the accident in Gaurikkund and flew immediately to the site of the crash and rescued the private helicopter's pilot.
