Priyanka woos Amethi voters via phone

Rae Bareilly:

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has become the latest icon and the mascot of the Congress in the twin constituencies of Amethi and Rae Bareilly, considered the pocket boroughs of the Gandhi-Nehru family.

When a mobile phone rings in the two constituencies, the receiver of the call gets a surprise of his life when he finds that Priyanka's speech is being played at the other end.

It is something like the campaign, which the BJP had launched in the 2004 elections when the receiver of the call used to hear "<I>Main Atal Bihari Vajpayee bol raha hoon</I>".

However, unlike Vajpayee, the daughter of Congress President Sonia Gandhi does not ask the people to vote for the party but instead shows her respect to them for doing so much for the Congress and the family.

"Amethi and Rae Bareilly are not only our work place but also a sacred place for us," Priyanka, considered charismatic and down to earth, says in her message to the people of the twin constituencies.

She says in the phone clip, "We will never be able to pay back the respect which you have given to us all our lives."

Interestingly, the phone clip of Priyanka is only for the people of Amethi and Rae Bareilly from where her brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi respectively are contesting the polls.
