The house of Sheikh Kader. Police are looking for him in connection with the Burdwan blast case.
Burdwan:
Was President Pranab Mukherjee ever at risk from those involved in the Burdwan blast case?
Two suspected militants - Shakil Ahmed and Sovan Mandal - were killed and another man Hasan Saheb was injured in the blast in Burdwan in West Bengal on October 2.
A large number of watch dials, SIM cards and other tools required to make improvised explosive devices were seized from the house where the blast occurred. The case has now been handed over the National Investigation Agency.
The police are now looking for several suspects in Kirnahar area of Birbhum district because call logs of SIM cards recovered from the blast site show several calls were made to this area.
The President had spent four days -- from September 30 to October 3 -- at his sister's residence in Kirnahar on the occasion of Durga Puja.
The police are now focusing on one Sheikh Kader; he is the brother-in law-of Kausar Ali, the man suspected by police to be the prime suspect in the case.
Sheikh Kader's house is less than one kilometres away, in Nimre village, from the President's sister's residence in Kirnahar.
Sheikh Kader's mother told NDTV that she knew nothing about the matter and wasn't sure when she had last met her son. She also said she did not know the name of her son-in-law.
"I don't know my son-in-law's name,' said Sharifa Bibi. "My son got my daughter married at the madrasa. I don't know their names," she added.
According to police sources, Kausar may have even paid for the construction of Sheikh Kader's house about a year ago. Sheikh Kedar, who is in his 30s, is a mason by profession.
The police are also looking for two other suspects and residents of Kiranhar, Kajal Sheikh and Amjad Ali Sheikh, say sources. All of them live close to the President's sister's house in the village.
