Jajpur: Prohibitory orders were imposed around a church at a village in Orissa's Jajpur district today following a dispute between two groups of Christians, official sources said.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPc were clamped at Suasahi village in the Kuakhia police station area, about 30 km from here, following a complaint by one group that the lock of the church had been broken by another, IIC A K Das said.
Altogether 45 Christian families comprising 300 members inhabit the village and both groups have been holding their prayers separately in the same church.
Differences had cropped up over property rights of the church when members of one group had allegedly undertaken some construction in the premises which was opposed by the other section, sources said.
