Actor Deepika Padukone today visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus to express solidarity with the students who were beaten up on Sunday amid mob attack at the campus.
Protests continue across the country against Sunday's mob attack at the Jawaharlal University that shocked the nation. A group of masked goons barged into the university on Sunday and attacked several students and teachers, went on a rampage, injuring 34 people.
Students across the nation are protesting against the unprecedented violence at the varsity. In Mumbai, a group of students who were protesting since Sunday night at the iconic Gateway of India were forcibly moved today to Azad Maiadan, about 2 km away.
Visuals showed protesters being dragged. The protest has now been called off.
Political leaders across partly lines- Sena chief and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Congress's Rahul Gandhi, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee - among others have condemned Sunday's violence.
On Monday, prominent faces from Bollywood gathered at Carter Road to register their resistance.
