Protests in Bengal after CPM men 'attack' Cong MLAs

Kolkata:

In West Bengal, there is a series of public protests after the attack on nine Congress MLAs at Dhanno-rukhi village near Mangalkot. CPM supporters allegedly attacked congress MLAs on Wednesday.

The Congress has called a 12-hour bandh in Mangalkot on Thursday while in Kolkata Congress workers plan to block the Howrah Bridge at noon, something that is sure to severely disrupt traffic in the city.

In Delhi, Pranab Mukherjee and Mamata Banerjee are expected to meet Home Minister Chidambaram to appraise him about the incident.

CPM has condemned the incident and denied party supporters were involved. CPM secretary Biman Bose has said if any CPM workers were found guilty the party would take action.
