Srinagar: Protests have erupted in Srinagar after a security guard was shot dead last night near a bunker of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Family of Reyaz Ahmad Shah, 19, alleged that he was shot by security forces when he was returning home after doing a night duty at Jammu and Kashmir bank ATM at Kani Kadal.
"There was no stone pelting or any protest in the area. When he reached near the bunker they fired at him," said Zahoor Ahmad, Reyaz's brother.
Police said a complaint has been filed in connection with the case.
"I have asked for registration of FIR. We are investigating the circumstances that led to the killing" said Amit Kumar SSP Srinagar.
"We will proceed further once we get the postmortem report" said the district magistrate.
Soon after the incident, there were massive protests in the area and people demanded action against security forces.
This was second civilian killing since yesterday evening. Earlier a youth was killed when a police guard of a magistrate opened fire on protesters at Lethpora on Srinagar- jammu national highway. Three other protesters were injured.
