Pune: A Pune court will, on Monday, decide on the future course of action in the case against Chairman of Lavasa Corporation Limited, Ajit Gulabchand and 14 other directors of the company.

They were asked to remain present in court and obtain bail in a criminal complaint filed by the Maharashtra government's Pollution Control Department for violation of Environment Protection Act in the construction of the hill township.

The directors, including the chairman, had stated that they would appeal in the higher court against the Pune court's order and as such they may not be present in person for the hearing on Monday.

The case was filed after the Union Environment Ministry said one of the preconditions for giving Lavasa the go-ahead was credible action by the state government. The MoEF later gave conditional clearance to the township project and since the work has resumed.
