Pune German Bakery blast: Prime suspect in police custody till June 1

Abdul Samad, the prime suspect in Pune German Bakery blast case, has been sent to police custody till June 1.

Samad was arrested yesterday, May 24 from Bhatkal district in Uttar Kannada, Karnataka and was produced in court today.

A red corner notice was issued against Samad after he fled to Dubai. The ATS had asked the authorities there not to extend his visa.

Samad has been identified as the younger brother of Yasin Bhatkal, a key member of Indian Mujahideen (IM) - suspected of being involved in bomb blasts across the country in recent years.

The Pune blast, which left 17 dead and more than 60 injured, was the first terror attack in the country after 26/11 attack in Mumbai in 2008.
