Chandigarh:
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today offered to allot 20 acres of land near Chandigarh to star cricketer Yuvraj Singh for setting up a sports academy.
Mr Yuvraj, who is recovering after undergoing treatment for a rare germ cell cancer, was accompanied by his mother Shabnam Singh when he called on Badal at his residence in Chandigarh today, an official spokesman said.
Mr Badal wished him speedy recovery and best of health.
Mr Badal appreciated the proposal put forth by Mr Yuvraj to establish state-of-the-art sports academy near Chandigarh to impart training to the budding players in cricket, hockey, golf and tennis.
The Chief Minister asked his Principal Secretary to finalise the modalities for the allotment of requisite land.
Mr Badal told Mr Yuvraj that the state government had already set up a sports school at Ghudha in Bathinda district to impart quality education and sports training to our youth to enable them to exhibit their talent at national as well as international tournaments.
