Chandigarh:

Congress's Navjot Sidhu today declared that he will meet Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tomorrow to discuss the "economic revival" of the state. Mr Sidhu, the cricketer-turned-politician who was leading the state Congress, had to step down after the party's crushing defeat in the recently concluded state elections.

"Will meet CM @BhagwantMann tomorrow at 5:15 PM in Chandigarh to discuss matters regarding the revival of Punjab's economy . . . Punjab's Resurrection is only possible with an honest collective effort . . .," Mr Sidhu tweeted today.

Since the Congress's defeat, Mr Sidhu has kept his party guessing with his 'blow hot blow cold' attitude to Mr Mann, praising and denigrating him in quick succession.

Last month, he had dubbed the Chief Minister a "rubber doll", accusing him of being the mouthpiece of his Aam Aadmi Party bosses in Delhi.

Two days later, he called the Chief Minister an "honest man" and said he would rise above party lines and support Mr Mann in any move to take on the mafia in the state.

"The Congress will have to reinvent to come back to power... Honest faces with moral authority and integrity will be the propellers. We are fighting a battle of existence for this great state... It's either the Mafia or Honest people...," he tweeted.

Mr Sidhu -- who had been in talks with AAP for a time before joining the Congress -- had congratulated the people of Punjab after the assembly election results.

Asked how he could say that as the Congress president, he asserted that the people have chosen change and they are never wrong.

Describing himself as a "Yogi on crusade"  he said, "When someone has a higher objective and is in love with Punjab then he doesn't care about win or loss".
