Jalandhar:
Jatinder Singh's dream of a better life in Greece has left him languishing in a Pakistani jail for some time now, his family has claimed.
Singh, originally from Kapurthala in Punjab, had gone to Abu Dhabi two-years ago for a job where he came in contact with some people who promised to take him to Greece for work, his grandfather told PTI.
However, instead of taking him to Greece, they abandoned the youngster on the Iran border from where he was arrested, he said.
After 15 days, the Iranian Police left him at the Afghanistan border.
From Afghanistan he somehow managed to reach Pakistan, where he was again arrested and lodged in a jail, he claimed.
His family has sought the intervention of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to secure his release and repatriation.
A senior police official said that he was not aware of the case, but added that the matter would be investigated on humanitarian grounds.
