The Congress party has won all the seven municipal corporations in Punjab for which the results were declared today. The party has won Abohar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Moga and Batla.
A total of 9,222 candidates were in the fray for the seven corporations and 109 municipal councils in the state that went to polls on Fenruary 14. Mohali's results will be declared only tomorrow.
The Punjab State Election Commission (SEC) on Tuesday ordered repolling at two polling booths of SAS Nagar municipal corporation on February 17 after receiving reports of irregularities during polling on February 14.
This is apart from the three polling booths of municipal councils of Patran and Samana in Patiala where repolling was held on Tuesday following reports of EVMs being damaged on February 14.
The commission announced to nullify the earlier polling conducted in these booths and ordered repolling on February 17 from 8 am to 4 pm in these two booths.
The counting for the entire municipal corporation of SAS Nagar will take place on February 18.
Over 70 per cent voting was recorded in the elections to over hundred civic bodies in Punjab on Sunday amid stray incidents of skirmishes at some places.

Buoyed by the Congress' victory in the civic polls in Punjab, the party's state unit chief Sunil Jakhar on Wednesday said people had rejected the opposition's "negative politics" and backed the ruling outfit's development agenda, as he rooted for a second term for Chief Minister Amarinder Singh following the assembly elections next year, reported news agency PTI. Shortly after the results were announced and it was clear that the Congress had put up a good show in the civic polls, Mr Jakhar made the announcement of "Captain for 2022". "I would like to launch a campaign "Captain for 2022". Only he can steer the ship of the state through these turbulent times when Punjab is being discriminated against by the BJP-led Centre," Mr Jakhar told reporters in Chandigarh.

In Hoshiarpur, the wife of former BJP cabinet minister Tikshan Sood has lost. Hoshiarpur is the constituency of BJP MP and Union Minister Som Prakash.
Shiromani Akali Dal has won 10 of 13 wards in Majitha Nagar council, Congress has won two and an independent candidate won the remaining one seat.
An official spokesperson of the State Election Commission said reports were received from the Returning Officer (RO) of Patran that some accused damaged the electronic voting machine (EVM) at polling booth number 11 of ward number 8.
Counting of votes has begun for Punjab Municipal elections. Polling for the 2,302-ward 2,302 wards of the eight municipal corporations, 109 municipal councils and nagar panchayats were held on February 14.
