Qasab not given X-ray plates used in age test

Qasab not given X-ray plates used in age test
Mumbai:

A special court on Saturday rejected the plea of Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab, the prime accused in the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks case, for access to the X-ray plates of his dental and bone tests to seek medical opinion regarding his age.

The X-ray plates pertaining to ossification and dental tests of Qasab tendered by the prosecution indicated that he was above 20 years.

Judge M L Tahiliyani, rejecting the plea of the accused, observed that this opportunity was given to Qasab's lawyer Abbas Kazmi, but he did not opt for it.

Qasab's lawyer was earlier allowed to bring an expert to the court to examine 16 X-ray plates tendered by the prosecution regarding ossification and dental tests of the accused.

Kazmi pleaded that in such cases Supreme Court has allowed the accused to examine the X-rays by medical experts.

However, Ujjwal Nikam objected to Qasab's plea, saying it cannot be allowed at this juncture and alleged that the accused was trying to delay the trail.
