'Quality Of Education Biggest Challenge': Minister Upendra Kushwaha

Minister Upendra Kushwaha describes 'quality of education' as the biggest challenge today

New Delhi: Union minister Upendra Kushwaha today lamented the 'absence of quality education' in the country saying it was time to introspect why qualified youth had to use 'references' of influential people to secure employment. He blamed the 'low quality of education' in the country for the sorry state of affairs.

"Sometimes people come who have engineering degrees, but are earning only Rs 10000-12000 every month. It is very troubling. Have we created such engineers? We must introspect why there is such a situation."

Mr Kushwaha also said there were many technical training institutions which were facing closure because of insufficient number of students, while the situation should be such that the industry comes to campuses to hire students.

While Mr Kushwaha said that the government was cognizant of the challenges in the education sector, the emphasis must be on improving the quality of education being imparted.

"Quality of education is the biggest challenge facing us," Mr Kushwaha said listing recent government initiatives like Digital India, Skill India and Make in India that are designed to benefit young people.
