Question Hour in Rajya Sabha now at 2pm

Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari announcedtoday the decision to shift the Question Hour in the House from 11am to 2pm.

"Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha willbe taken up from 1400 hours to 1500 hours from Monday to Thursday beginningMarch 7, and from 1430 hours to 1530 hours on Friday," Ansari informed theHouse.

"Zero Hour will be the first listedagenda for the Rajya Sabha when it will meet at 1100 hours from Monday andmembers can raise issues with the permission of the Chair," he said.

"It has been observed thatmembers tend to raise issues concerning them at the expense of QuestionHour," he added.

The move follows members usingQuestion Hour to highlight issues like 2G spectrum scam and Telanganastatehood, often leading to adjournments and in the process depriving members oftheir right to ask questions and seek answers.
