Rahman: Oscar bound once again?
Chennai: A R Rahman's sound track for the film Couples Retreat has been shortlisted for an Academy nomination. He launched his latest sound track in Chennai.

It is A R Rahman's debut in Hollywood and his score is already making waves.

A Tamil number Nana written by Rahman has been shortlisted for Academy Award nomination. The film tells the story of four couples left on an island.

But was it a gamble for the Oscar winner to score music for a comedy?

"I like comedy. Lots of movies were offered but I felt this one wanted to use me genuinely as a composer. And I wanted to do something to experience Hollywood first and this helped a great deal," said A R Rahman, Music Composer.

The number from his latest album is personally very special for Rahman as his son has sung for it.

"Yes he has sung just a few bits, it's a great start for him," said A R Rahman.

With a good mix of English, African, Hindi, Spanish and Sanskrit tracks, the album is likely to be a hit back home in India, and Rahman has raised Oscar hopes once again.
