Rahul Gandhi accuses BJP of dividing country
New Delhi:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday accused the BJP of dividing the country on economic and religious lines.

"They want to divide us between rich and poor, and Hindus and Muslims and Christians. They do not talk of development but terrorism," he said while addressing an election rally here.

Referring to attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra, Rahul said that when people asked them (BJP) in Bihar about such incidents, they said, "We don't believe in such things here".

Ridiculing the 'India Shining' campaign of previous NDA government, the AICC general secretary said, "They only saw a select group of rich people but forgot about the poor living in slums and villages."

Without naming British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, the Amethi MP said when he took him to a village, he was surprised at the development taking place in rural India.

"While he (Miliband) understood that the real power of India lives in villages, BJP leaders failed to understand that and questioned my decision to take the British Minister to rural India," he said.
