New Delhi: Congress Vice President is addressing supporters at a rally in Jaunpur. Here are the highlights:
- You have given a lot to this country. I want to thank you all for that.
- We have a difference of opinion with Mr Modi and BJP. But let's not say murdabad. That is the work of the RSS.
- Demonetisation was not a fight against the corrupt. It was a fight against the poor, the farmer, the under-privileged.
- PM Modi has not just dried up the money of the poor, he also took out their blood.
- We told Mr Modi that the poor, the farmers are crying everyday.
- I urged him to waive off the loans of the farmers. He did not reply. He did not speak a word. This is the truth of India.
- In Parliament, Mr Modi said a labourer digs holes. He made fun of the MGNREGA.
- In the last few months, Mr Modi has given 60 per cent of India's wealth to one per cent of India's population.
- A handful of families hold majority of this 60% wealth, around 50 families.
- I ask you, is black money with the people of India or with the those 50 families?
- All cash is not black money and all black money is not cash.
- When a farmer buys seeds with cash, it is not black money. When a labourer is paid his daily wage in cash, it is not black money.
- Those who have black money don't have it in cash. It is either in foreign bank accounts, land and property, or gold.
- Only six per cent of the black money is in cash. It is a figure that Mr Modi's government has published.
- When Mr Modi knew that 94 per cent black money is in foreign bank accounts, land and property, and gold, why did he go only after the six per cent?
- Mr Modi has a list of Swiss bank accounts. He knows who the corrupt people are. But when we ask for the list to be made public, he does nothing about it.
- Vijay Mallya is in London, Lalit Modi is in London. What happened to the Rs 15 Lakhs you promised to us? Where is my Rs 15 lakh?
- Do the farmers and labourers pay for his campaigns? No. It is those 50 families that pay him. So he will not do anything against them.
- Mr Modi, this is not a surgical strike against black money. You have firebombed the poor.
- What happened to your promise of 2 crore jobs year-on-year? You've made a mockery of the youth. You've destroyed their lives.
- A majority of the people transact in cash. You have made a joke about the poor, especially the women.
- Now I will give you the reason behind this firebombing. Mr Modi has done this to help those 50 families as they owe a lot to the banks.
- Mr Modi has already waived Rs 1,10,000 crore of these industrialists. Now, he is further helping them.
- These industrialists have borrowed 8 lakh crore from banks. Now, Mr Modi will bail out these friends of his, who have made him and funded him.
- Mr Modi doesn't want you to have your hard-earned money. He wants your money to remain in the bank.
- If you don't want to trust me, don't. You will see in the months to come.
- If your money stays in the bank, it will help banks bear the losses of this 8 lakh crore that the 50 families have taken.
- Let me explain what cashless economy really means.
- When you transact with cash, you give Rs 100 to the shopkeeper. It is as simple as that.
- In a cashless economy, when you pay by other means, 5 per cent goes straight into the bank account of those 50 corrupt families. You won't even hear a whisper of it.
- We are not against a cashless economy, but it cannot be forced on people.
