Gopalgarh, Bharatpur:
Congress General secretary Rahul Gandhi made a surprise visit early on Sunday morning to Gopalgarh - the ground zero of the group clashes in Bharatpur last month.
During his sudden visit Rahul met up with families of the victims of the violence and police firing that killed 10 people in Gopalgarh on September 14.
The incident has hurt the Gehlot government, who have had to face tough questions on why there need for police firing in Gopalgarh. The other problem for the Congress is that all those who died were Meo Muslims - a crucial votebank for the Congress - in the Mewat area.
The Congress high command has been worried about the political fallout of the incident - especially in an area that borders Uttar Pradesh - where elections are now just a few months away.
A team of the Congress high command, sent days after the clashes, had also claimed that police excesses had worsened the situation in this small town.
During his trip to Gopalgarh, Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by the Union Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh. Singh is a Congress MP from Alwar and is known for his closeness to Rahul.
