Mumbai:
After Sheena Bora's murder in 2012, her fiance Rahul Mukerjea had repeatedly questioned her mother Indrani's claim that she had gone to the US, emails accessed by NDTV reveal.
Rahul, the son of former media executive Peter Mukerjea by a previous marriage, had written to stepmother Indrani Mukerjea that he found a purported SMS from Sheena Bora "impossible to accept."
Sheena Bora, 24, was last seen alive in April, 2012. She was allegedly strangled by Indrani, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai, but the crime would remain hidden for three years until August this year.
Indrani allegedly told the world that Sheena had gone to the US, and also sent break-up messages from her phone to Rahul.
The CBI alleges that Indrani Mukerjea was upset about Rahul's relationship with Sheena, the daughter she had introduced to everyone as her younger sister."
In an email on 28 May addressed to "Indrani (and Pa)", Rahul referred to Sheena's SMS saying she wanted to "discontinue our relationship" and spoke about past instances when Indrani had allegedly texted pretending to be Sheena or Peter Mukerjea.
"To resolve this issue before it gets out of hand for everyone, I would suggest that you get Sheena to speak to me (or a close friend of hers) herself, and perhaps then, like you say, we can all move on and be happy. Unless I hear from Sheena herself, it is simply impossible to accept what you say with all this doubt in my mind. Unfortunately, said doubt is leading me to be somewhat suspicious as to the reasons why she will not, or is unable, to speak for herself," Rahul writes.
