Emphasising on the importance of youth in politics, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that he wishes to change the face of Uttar Pradesh politics.
Speaking to media in Lucknow on Tuesday, Rahul reiterated that the future of UP can only be ensured when youth of the state join politics.
"There are many people here who have the same idea that politics here is of politics of past. We need to have of a politics of future and we need to build new politics for this state," Rahul said, adding that there is a need for time-bound goals in the state.
"My agenda is to bring youth in politics. I would like to ensure that bright and young people join us. The Youth Congress and Congress have opened its doors to the youth of this country," he said.
There are serious implications of youth Congress becoming a democratic setup and other political parties can't ignore it, Rahul added.
Charting out his plans for scouting of youth leaders in the state, Rahul said: "There has been great response from youth in Uttar Pradesh. And I am here to work for the youth, to change the way of Uttar Pradesh politics."
Speaking about Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he said: "We have the most capable person as Prime Minister."
