Chandigarh:
Parts of Punjab and Haryana remained flooded on Wednesday as they struggled to cope with the aftermath of non-stop and heavy rain on Tuesday. All schools in Haryana's Ambala and Kurukshetra districts have been shut for two days.
In Kurukshetra, the army has been called to repair a major canal that breached in Gulbarga village, causing floods in a few villages. The National Disaster Authority of India has sent 150 doctors on ten boats to assist people stranded in the worst-hit parts of Kurukshetra.
Haryana Police Chief R S Dalal said that policemen who are able swimmers have also been sent out to help with emergency rescue and relief operations.
Traffic and trains are both moving slowly. Parts of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Ludhiana and Patiala are without power. Cell phone services have been affected.

- Delhi-Una Himachal Express.
